About Us

ASF is an entirely “asset-light” non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) / freight forwarder and customs broker. The Company is currently owned by two individuals, both affiliated with the Company, and operates offices in Mobile, AL (HQ) with regional offices in New Orleans, LA, Savannah, GA, and Charleston, SC. While predominately based in the South East United States, the company serves all major US Ports, and provides logistic services for customers throughout the United States.

ASF Logistics was established in 1976, and originally began operations providing forwarding services to the local lumber community. ASF has steadily built extensive relationships with companies in this sector, and now serves customers of all sizes, including some of the largest national forest product companies in the US. ASF has in-depth knowledge and experience in handling all commodities within the forestry business including logs, lumber, pulp, paper, liner board, and engineered wood products.

ASF was acquired by its current owners in 2000, at which time the majority of the Company’s activity was based upon forest products and related exports from the USA. In order to ensure continued business growth and sustainability, the owners set about diversifying the business to the extent that forest products now account for less than 50% of the total business portfolio. While ASF today remains a leading transport carrier in the forestry industry, through a successful diversification plan the company has expanded in terms of both commodity and geographic scope. ASF now handles a broad spectrum of commodities in both import and export markets.

As a result of continued expansion and despite the economic downturn, in 2009 ASF opened new branch offices in New Orleans, LA and Charleston, SC, and relocated the existing branch office in Savannah, GA to a larger purpose built premises.  Today the staff at ASF possesses an in-depth expertise in the logistics business. The Company provides outstanding customer service and operational excellence in all areas of logistics and supply chain management.
